Author Visits

We really enjoy participating in author visits!  And, our books can be used as a teaching resource, covering specific areas of the curriculum.

  • ‘Understanding the world’ area for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) pupils
  • PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) for Key Stage 1 pupils

A report by the National Literacy Trust found that author visits to schools have a positive relationship with children and young people’s reading skills, and their enjoyment and confidence in reading and writing.

If you are interested in having our authors visit your school then please do contact us!

Career Talk

What do you enjoy learning about at school?

What is your favourite subject?

What are your hobbies?

What activities do you enjoy doing?

Education and skills are very important for all jobs and career options.

What do you want to be when you are older? What job would you like?

Can you think of which subjects and skills would be useful for carrying out that job?

Design a Mini Book

Now it’s your turn to be an author and illustrator!

The research…

Ask a parent, family member or caregiver what job they do.

Research a job you might like to do in the future.

What does the job involve? What is a typical day at work? What type of clothes do they wear? Do they work with other people or alone? Do they use any equipment, tools or special materials? What’s the most fun part of the job?

The activity…

Write down the answers to all the questions you asked and the research carried out in the form of a story. You might want to even try to make it rhyme.

Design a book cover similar to the ones created by Marissa Peguinho. Don’t forget to add a book title and who the book is by! (you)

You could create a display of your books for the author to see!
