Posted: 22nd January 2020

Today our author, Jason Bryan attended Percy Shurmer School in Birmingham for the launch of My Daddy Is A Nurse, with Chief Nursing Officer Ruth May and Nursing Now England.

It was a successful event and fun was had by all, learning about the important work that nurses do as well as the range of roles and tasks within the profession.

Nursing Now England has collaborated with us to produce this latest book that aims to tackle misconceptions about men’s role in nursing.  My Daddy Is A Nurse is the first book within the Butterfly Books series that showcases men working within a ‘traditionally’ female-centric profession.

The British Army have seen a flurry of activity at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst following the Army Women 100 celebrations in 2017. As part of this we are excited to be collaborating with them on our next book 'My Mummy is a Soldier'. This is not directed or funded by the Army; we have simply collaborated with them to make sure the content remains true to Army life. In order to publish the book and get it into schools, we aim to raise £7000 and are doing this through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. This allows creative projects to raise the money needed to move forward. In return for funding support you can receive various items, for example for pledges of £10 or more you may pre-order a book, for £50 you can receive a copy of all 4 books in the series and for £300 or more you may have your name/company name listed in the book.

Happy International Women in Engineering Day 2017

Posted: 23rd June 2017 @inwed1919 #inwed17 #we50 #menasallies

International Women in Engineering Day returns on 23 June around the world for its fourth year running.

Set up in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate its 95th anniversary, this national, and now international, awareness day focuses attention on the amazing careers in engineering and technical roles, especially for girls and young women, and celebrates the achievements of women engineers.

INWED is a fun and inspiring way for schools, colleges and universities to encourage students to take up engineering careers, but also companies, professional organisations, government and individuals to showcase their commitment to diversity.

It will feature hundreds of exciting events, from talks, tours, open days and debates to competitions, networking events, site visits, videos and campaigns – more than 550 in 2016. Through partnership with The Daily Telegraph, INWED will also announce the ‘Top 50 Women in Engineering under 35’ on 23 June – this year the list focuses on the rising female stars across all engineering sectors.

Working in partnership with many of the engineering world’s globally recognized names, INWED seeks to foster a spirit of cooperation, collaboration and enthusiasm. We aim to celebrate the role of women in engineering, to highlight positive role models, and to inspire future and current generations to achieve their potential.
